Google's mobile new ranking algorithm will officially launch on April 21st and will include mobile-friendly usability factors and app indexing. For the last two years we’ve been indicating to our clients and anyone that will listen to make sure your website is mobile-friendly and with this update on the horizon this is now more important than ever.
Google has announced that it is making two significant changes to its search algorithm for ranking the mobile search results recently and this will impact on websites that currently only have a traditional desktop version of your website.
Google will be using mobile-friendly factors in its mobile search results starting on April 21, 2015, and it will rank mobile apps participating in App Indexing for signed-in users better in the mobile search results that have started already. What does this all mean in real terms, a mobile friendly website will rank better in mobile search, if you have a current website and have been tracking your analytics then you’ll have noticed that tablet and mobile usage levels have steadily increased over the past 2-3 years.
Google’s new algorithm is to address this very point and give the user the best browsing experience it can. Google’s mobile ranking factors will not only label your site as mobile-friendly, but will also use that to determine if your site should rank higher in the search results.
Google said this algorithmic change will have a “significant impact” in the mobile search results, impacting all languages worldwide. Google said this is expanding on its mobile ranking algorithm launched back in 2013. Google also said “users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimised for their devices.
