In my last blog post, I wrote about the need for websites to be responsive, today I am going to take that on a stage further and talk about the design process and how this effects conversion. We have had various companies and individuals come through the doors here at adigi. Some have a need for a website from scratch, right through to companies who are on their 3rd or 4th generation website.

Once such company was Shield Batteries, Shield Batteries have been manufacturing batteries in the UK for over 100 years. With an impeccable history the company have had a rich heritage in battery manufacturing, unfortunately their website was unrepresentative of their company, it was very difficult to navigate and hard to find telephone numbers or contact them generally.

Understanding the clients objectives is always the starting point for our designers and developers, so by asking so pertinent questions for this project of the client we quickly established the needs of the client (of course with our own thoughts and suggestions thrown in). We asked a number of key questions on this project, which were:

  • What do we want the visitor to do?
  • How do we engage a visitor with the products?
  • How do we get the visitor to make an enquiry?
  • What is the visitor journey through the website?

All of these points have to be addressed to make the website design a success, having worked out the website architecture alongside the design, our in-house designers then produced a series of visuals that the client could approve before we moved onto the build of the project.

Sheild Batteries Website

Since the new website went live there has been a 500% rise in web enquiries, Shield Batteries have seen an increase in sales as a result of these enquiries, in a time of austerity. Something both the client and ourselves are very proud of, we are still working with the client on increasing these enquiries.

Does a good design increase conversion? Yes it does.
